Honky Tonk Angels is...

Honky Tonk Angels is one of the hottest regular NYC-Country events running, and has been playing to standing room only crowds for the past year. The monthly songwriter series has been featured on the cover of Deli Magazine (October, 2009), named the Countryny.com "Event of the Month" in August 2009, is a Voice Choice, A TimeOut NY Recommended Event, and was named the BrooklynCountry.com “Event of the Month” in June 2008, September 2008, and February 2009.

Honky Tonk Angels features a diverse group of women who reflect the subgenres of country music: from swing, to ranchera, honkytonk, bluegrass, rockabilly, alt-country, country blues, to Americana. Previous shows featured the talents of Jessica Rose & The High Life, Lil’ Mo (Monica Passin), Lindy Loo, Veronica Valerio, Serena Jean, Kamara Thomas (Larune, Ghost Ramblers), Jen Larson, and Hilary Hawke. The show provides a much-needed stomping ground for women who write cutting edge, neo-traditional country music.

Honky Tonk Angels is the brainchild of singer/songwriter Jamie Lyn, a veteran of the Brooklyn Country music scene. Rosy Nolan began co-curating the show in the spring of 2009, and so we two are holding it together, together and having a great time keepin' it going.

Honky Tonk Angels provides champions groundbreaking artists who pay homage to the raw and eclectic soul of American country music cultivated in the heart of New York City.
